Abstract
This study aims to understand how human development occurs through the relationship between ontogeny, culture, and/or education, highlighting its implications for formal education. To this end, we utilize the following authors: Reinach (2013), Laraia (2001), and Vygotsky (1992) to explore the concepts of ontogeny, education and/or culture, and the internalization of concepts. We employ a qualitative approach and bibliographic research. The results demonstrate that ontogeny corresponds to natural and genetically determined processes, while cultural learning occurs via language, which enables the internalization of concepts. The interaction between ontogenetic and cultural aspects is crucial for addressing current issues such as gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity/race, and various types of disorders present in the school setting.
