Abstract
The article aims to discuss the scientific concepts and the thought of the New School movement in the uncritical use of digital devices in education. For this purpose, we reflect on the role of the school, as well as on the use of digital devices in education and the scientific authority of the teacher. The main authors that supported our discussion were: Libâneo (2006), Dewey (1979), Oliveira (1992), and Arendt (2023). We opted for a qualitative approach and bibliographic research. The result of our study indicates that the disempowerment of the teacher as the agent responsible for transmitting scientific concepts favors the spread of false information and weakens students' access to scientific knowledge in a technology-mediated world.
