Abstract
This study aims to analyze the extension activities developed through the work plan “Recording the Narratives and Memories of Rural Women from the Laginha Community, in Várzea do Poço (BA)”, linked to the project “Narratives and Representations” of the State University of Feira de Santana. It seeks to document and understand the historical, social, and cultural processes of the group of women farmers from União Sabores, who produce handmade foods derived from cassava and licuri. The study is based on the works of Benjamin (1994), Bosi (1987), and Freire (1982), who emphasize the value of narratives as instruments of memory, resistance, and emancipation. The methodology is grounded in participatory research, involving interviews and discussion circles. The main contribution to the community lies in the production of written and audiovisual materials that promote knowledge of local cultural practices and support the development of contextualized pedagogical and community strategies. Rural women are recognized as agents of transformation, as well as the importance of solidarity economy and family farming for the sustainable development of the semi-arid region of Bahia.
