Abstract
Through expressions and equations, mathematics describes patterns of natural phenomena. Based on this harmonious relationship, this study aimed to establish an overview of scientific productions on the pedagogical strategies adopted in teaching mathematics, with an emphasis on natural patterns as a possible context in classes. Methodologically, this is a quantitative-qualitative study, resulting from an integrative review, using methodological steps suggested by Hassunuma et al. (2024). The studies were selected from the Scielo and Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations databases, from 2020 to 2024. Pedagogical strategies that involved natural patterns are rare and, when inserted in mathematics classes, they focused on themes related to the golden number or golden ratio. Therefore, new pedagogical interventions in Basic Education are suggested, especially in Elementary Education, with teaching methodological alternatives that can explore other patterns existing in nature, with a view to achieving contextualized and lasting learning.
